Why and Where To Use A GFCI Device?

The GFCI or ground fault circuit interrupter is used to protect occupants from electrical shock when a flow of voltage to ground is present on circuits protected by these devices. Receptacles in bathrooms, unfinished basement, exterior, garage, kitchen counter and locations within 6 ft of a water source shall be protected by GFCI device or breaker. At RU-Electrical, we have over 30 years of experience installing GFCI devices. Call on us to help you make the right choice, and upgrade your outlets to keep your home safe.

HOW HARD IS IT TO INSTALL A GFCI RECEPTACLE?

Adding or replacing GFCI receptacles in your home can make your home more functional and make it safer. This project isn’t the most difficult but does require the ability to determine which set of wires are the feed and which are the load. The ‘hot’ set must be placed on the ‘hot’ terminals and the ‘load’ on the load terminals. The latter will be present if there is need to protect the continuing circuit.

Any electrical work without previous experience can be hazardous. Unless you have worked with electrical receptacles before, we do not recommend attempting this yourself. So if you want help with installing your receptacles, our professionally trained technicians are ready to get the job done for you, and make your home a safer place!

Returns via the internet are sometimes made simple, but can be a lengthy process more so than the home center store.
